FOIA requests may be submitted through Village Hall. Requests relating to police department records will be forwarded to the Police Department FOIA Officer for response.

Requests for records may be submitted in the following ways:

• By email to the Village Clerk
• By mail to Village Hall
• In person during regular office hours
• By submitting the Village FOIA Request Form

Requests should include:

• The requester’s name

• Contact information (address, email, or phone number)

• A clear description of the records being requested

Providing detailed information about the requested records will help the Village locate the information more efficiently.

The Village will respond to FOIA requests within five (5) business days as required by the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

An additional five (5) business day extension may be requested when permitted under the Act.

There is no charge for the first 50 pages of black-and-white copies.

Additional copies may be charged at a rate consistent with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

Fees for color copies, oversized documents, or electronic media may apply when applicable.

A FOIA request form is available for your convenience.

Requests are not required to be submitted on the Village’s form, but using the form may help ensure all necessary information is included.

The Village of Westville complies with the Illinois Open Meetings Act.

Meeting agendas are posted at least 48 hours prior to scheduled meetings, and approved meeting minutes are posted on the Village website following approval by the Village Board.
